Name GIF

First Draft

To animate this GIF, I went frame by frame moving each of the letters to the borders and beyond to make a coming together and breaking apart effect. While creating the name I had each element on its own individual layer to ease this process more. To make the effect of animation move more fluidly, I used tweeting in between some frames that looked off.

Making the Name

I wanted my name to look like it was a logo, for this reason, I used the font FOT Yuruka STD. I wrote my name in a text box and then moved the letters closer together to have a more compact and friendlier appeal. Then I changed the colors of the letters to alternating magenta and purple, creating a fun image of the letters. I added random shapes to the rest of the name to fill the space. I then added a white stroke to make everything stand out.

Final Design

The major critique I got for this GIF was that the repeating of the breaking apart and putting together was too predictable, an undesired accordion effect. To fix this, I changed what happens to the name after the letters come together. Instead of going backward in the same path, they would all drop down like they were sliding down. To do this I did the same method of moving the letters closer to the edge and past it; however, I made it to where the movements were slower at the start of the descent and faster as it continued to slide as if they were accelerating.
